After clicking the link, please enter “Environment” in response to ‘What Would You Like to Discuss?’ — and write in the following:

I urge the President to proclaim a series of new National Monuments that prohibit the commercial logging of old-growth forests on designated federal lands.  The Antiquities Act does not grant a President the power to rescind monuments that have already been established.  Therefore, monument designations are the only politically-viable path to establishing meaningful and lasting protections for our nation’s irreplaceable old-growth forest ecosystems.

Executive action must be taken before Monday, January 20, 2025.

If you live in Maine:

Please send Congresswoman Pingree a message via the button below.

Congresswoman Pingree is the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies, which controls the U.S. Forest Service’s budget — and is therefore a very powerful voice on this issue.

In your message, please let her know that everyone is counting on her to act boldly by urging the President to proclaim a series of new National Monuments that prohibit the commercial logging of old-growth forests on federal lands.  Remind her that the Antiquities Act does not grant a President the power to rescind monuments that have already been established.  Therefore, monument designations are the only politically-viable path to establishing lasting protections for old-growth.

You can also send Congresswoman Pingree a postcard or call her office using the address and telephone number listed below. Thank you!
