“Planet Earth, you are a crew.”

“A crew has the same cares and the same needs. And a crew is inescapably, beautifully, dutifully linked. So when we saw tiny Earth, people asked our crew what impressions we had. And honestly, what struck me wasn't necessarily just Earth, it was all the blackness around it. Earth was just this lifeboat hanging undisturbingly in the universe. … I know I haven't learned everything that this journey has yet to teach me, but there's one new thing I know. And that is — Planet Earth, you are a crew."

Earth Day greetings from Protect Ancient Forests —

Today, let us pause for a moment in order to remember that all life on Earth is “inescapably, beautifully, dutifully linked.”

Pausing allows us to see what is right before our eyes.

The images from Artemis II inspire awe and wonder — and showcase the interconnection of our blue and green planet.

Forests are a living testament to the inescapable truth of our interconnectedness. Everything within a forest is linked — with trees, fungi, water, plants, and animals all beautifully entwined.

Additionally, every human is linked to forests — from the air we breathe to the fresh water we drink. The fate of our forests is inescapably linked to the health of our collective future.

Right now, America’s public lands are facing their biggest threats in decades. Nearly 60 million acres of National Forests are in imminent danger of losing a landmark environmental protection known as the Roadless Rule — which restricts roadbuilding (and thereby logging and mining) in the most wild forests on U.S. public lands.

This is an important moment to make our voices heard — for silence is an axe!

Protect Ancient Forests is organizing citizen-led public meetings to generate comments and raise awareness about the threats facing our forests. Dates and locations will be shared as soon as the Administration formally opens the public comment period (which is expected in the next week or two).

Together, we can lift our voices and halt the misguided efforts to rescind the public land protections that we all rely upon.

Happy Earth Day to all —

Alyssa & Michael
